While Ziva is settling into the routine of the house, she is learning the first rule of Dog Training Camp – sit at the door! Whether coming or going, Ziva is learning to sit and wait to be released. This simple step is a big leadership exercise that establishes many things and it never gets old! It tells Ziva I control and protect the space on either side of the door. When going out, I lead the way so she isn’t rushing to scope out what’s out there. It also brings her energy level down, building focus and self control. I wait until she is calm and looking at me before I invite her through the threshold. Great job Z!
