Zephyr is getting to know the dogs at my house. We start by walking together, so the dogs can smell each other but are focused on me as leader. On our walks, they practice drill commands (sit, stay, down, come) to tire them out. When we get back to the house, they sit to be invited in, and then they can meet with a much calmer energy. It also helps Zephyr see that just because another dog’s around doesn’t mean it’s playtime.
