Other dogs are Toffee’s biggest distraction. She gets super excited near other dogs wanting to meet and play. At the sight of a neighborhood dog she started to get excited at first I just kept walking by stayed calm and neutral and used very little correction as to not give her excited behavior any attention. We made several passes by the dog then when she was calm I started doing drills at a short distance and gradually got closer. Doing drills around distractions gives your dog something to concentrate on other than the distraction and teaches them to pay attention to you no matter what. Great job Toffee!! *Just in case you’re wondering the other dog is in an invisible fence :)*
