Roscoe is learning to SETTLE during normal activity around the house. Whenever we eat dinner, watch TV, take a shower, have guests over, kids are walking buy, etc. Roscoe must stay put and relax. The trick?
1. Get him tired by doing some leash drills or playing fetch first.
2. Give him a stuffed Kong or Antler Bone that he can only enjoy in that spot.
3. Put him back if he gets up.
4. Put him back if he gets up.
5. Put him back if he gets up!
6. Don’t get frustrated and wait for him to quit trying and give up. Apply “3 strikes & You’re Out” rule if you get tired of putting him back and put him in his crate. Either way he settles and you win! (No yummy treat in that case). Routine helps a lot too!
