Cosima has the attention span of a puppy! So I use the leash to help me teach her to settle. I am using a chain leash because Cosima is sneaky and has chewed through some of my leashes. If I have to constantly put her back into a settle, then it becomes an attention seeking game for her. Stepping on the leash enables me to disengage from the game while still keeping her in a settle. You can’t see that she has a toy infront of her. I use the toy to occupy her while in a settle. Like occupying a child with an IPad at a restaurant! As she gets older she won’t need the help of a toy, she will settle because you asked.
