Lucas has done a great job settling either in his kennel with the door open or on a dog bed. For this exercise I wanted to cook in the kitchen and wanted Lucas to be occupied elsewhere. (You can also have them settle when guests come over that way they have time to calm down and focus on something other than your guests) I had him settle in his kennel in a down. If he doesn’t do a down then I point the the ground and wait him out. Once he was in a down he was given a yummy frozen kong to keep him busy while I cooked my food. (For dogs with allergies or sensitive stomachs you can mix their food and/or treats with some water and mash it. Then fill and freeze the kong.) Lucas stayed in the kennel with the door open while I cooked and then ate my food. Great job Lucas!
