Ellie is learning to hold a sit and wait to be released in and out of the door. For a young puppy, this does several things. When coming in, it slows her down and allows her to understand that crazy play is for outside and calm is for inside. It helps with focus and self control as she must pay attention to her owner in order to proceed. And since she is a natural guard breed, it shows her that you will take care of things on both sides of the door so you don’t get a barking dog outside or a dog that guards the inside of your home. Wow! One simple exercise sure does a LOT!!
