Boomer is learning the first most important lesson of Dog Training Camp: sit at the door and wait for his release word. Controlling doorways is an important leadership activity that accomplishes several things. It shows him you control all space, inside or outside. It builds his self control so he is waiting for your direction instead of doing what he chooses. It also helps prevent door dashing so you don’t have a big dog running past you or out into the street. Showing Boomer that you control the threshold lets him know he doesn’t need to worry about who comes through the door.
