We worked on greetings with Abby at class. Abby can be a nervous girl so by having her handler reach over her to pet first, she can control Abby’s head and prevent any unwanted reactions (aka snap or bite). Eye contact can also be threatening to a nervous dog so having your guest approach from the side makes Abby feel more comfortable. Once they start petting, Abby melts and thoroughly enjoys a good snuggle!
